A bed can be held only by providing credit card information beforehand. Walk-in guests are taking a chance. If you would like us to hold a bed for you, please read the Reservation & Cancellation Policy below, and also the Guest Policy. If this agrees with you please email your Reservation Request for processing. Before May 3rd Hostel will be closed so we will call you for your credit card information a week or two before May 3rd.

Please consider that offensive behavior will not be allowed in our hostel (one person per bed, no influence of alcohol, etc.) It is expected that our guests will have respect & consideration amongst themselves and honor the Hostel policy.

Because we do not wear shoes in the Hostel - please consider bringing slippers or socks.

RESERVATION REQUESTS

Travelers & Visitors are welcome at Burlington Hostel because such Guests expect sharing space, company & conversation with others who come to experience our city & state, or who are en-route through our city to experience the Country or the World. Those coming to find housing or for a job search will be accepted on limited bases. Local & nearby Residents will not be accepted unless accompanying a guest Traveler or Visitor.

A Reservation Request must provide: 1) a contact email address & phone number, 2) the first & last name(s) of all those who wish to be Guests, 3) the place of legal residency of each person, 4) the date & approximate time of your arrival, and the number of nights, 5) the type of room you wish to stay in (mixed, or women only), 6) the primary reason(s) you are coming to Burlington (this helps us when assigning shared rooms), and 7) if you plan to use a credit or debit card to secure your reservation.

Reservation Requests will be processed giving consideration for longer stays (up to 10 nights, maximum) & for those who will secure their reservation with a credit or debit card. Generally, cash paying customers may only stop in between 3pm-9pm & risk bed availability.

Your bed is reserved when we process & accept your Reservation Request, and only after your acceptance & appreciation of our hostel policies, which include: 1) Reservation, Cancellation, Additional Costs, 2) Guest Behavior, and 3) Time Considerations. These policies can be found on the www.theburlingtonhostel.com website, attached in a return email to you, or you can read them when you arrive.

All Reservations are contingent upon successful check-in where a valid current picture ID will be needed which shows your place of legal residency, and where no rude behavior is evident.

When a credit or debit card is offered in advance to reserve a bed, an amount equal to your first night stay, plus tax, will need to be successfully charged. Then, when you check-in an Authorization will be requested for any additional nights you reserved &/or incidentals, and a final charge made upon check-out. Full payment is required at check-in by those paying with cash. Personal checks are not accepted.

RESERVATION CANCELLATIONS

For cancellations received at noon or before on the day prior to your day of arrival your first night charge will be refunded minus only a $5.00 cancellation processing fee.

For cancellations received after noon on the day prior to your day of arrival, and certainly for no shows the one night charge will not be refunded

If you experience a plane, train or bus cancellation, and we receive a timely hostel cancellation your first night charge will be refunded minus only a $5.00 cancellation processing fee provided a copy of the transportation ticket is sent to us for verification of the transportation cancellation.

Upon a Cancellation or a no-show any beds being held for nights beyond the first night will be released for others requesting beds.

When a Guest has checked-in & has a multi-night Reservation, a next day cancellation can be made by 11am or earlier on the previous day. For example: if a Guest on Monday (prior to 11am) wishes to cancel Tuesday night there will be no charge (other than a $5 cancellation processing fee), yet if the Guest cancels at 3pm there will be a charge for the next night

Bring your credit or debit card with you if you intend to use one of our card keys or if you intend to stay more than the one night.

ADDITIONAL COSTS

Should a Guest fail to check-out by 11:00 am on the final day of Reservation without extending their stay, an additional night will be charged (failure to check-out leaves housekeeping uncertain about remaking the bed, and leaves us assuming you intend to extend one night thus keeping the bed reserved). For each card-key not returned at Check-Out a $20 charge will be charged for Guests using a credit or debit card.

Should a Guest vomit or otherwise discharge onto a bed or the floor a cleaning fee (minimum of $50) will be charge of any Guest.

Burlington Hostel is a completely smoke-free accommodation & Guests who smoke, burn incense or bees wax candles in the hostel will be charged a deep cleaning fee (minimum of $200).

FIRM GUEST BEHAVIOR Policy (this is NOT a Party hostel)

Shoes: leave footwear worn outside in the reception area.

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking:absolutely not in or near the hostel.

Sleeping Bags:use provided bedding, not your sleeping bag.

Food: label your food with your name.

Eating/Drinking:in Kitchen or Common Room only.

Guests:Only checked-in guests are allowed in the hostel.

Loitering: do not congregate just outside the front door.

Safety: watch the hot-plate so fire dept would not fine us (you).

Conservation:kill any shower & lavatory lights when not in use.

Common Courtesy:wash up your own dishes, cups, etc.

Immediate Check-Out:you will have to leave w no refund if:

Intoxication:anyone offensively under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or reeking of smoke.

Noise, rudeness or lewdness:any unreasonable noise, rude, disgusting or offensive behavior.

Your energy:if this is an obvious bad fit here or other Guests become uncomfortable.

TIME CONSIDERATIONS (please observe these event times)

Reservation Requests:email anytime or phone 3pm to 9pm.

Walk-in (w/o reservations):from 3pm to 9pm.

Late Arrivals with Reservation:ok if transportation is delayed.

Early Luggage Drop Off:this does not guarantee a reservation.

Check-In process after 3pm. ID, etc. is checked at this time.

Piano:is available only from 3pm to 9pm.

Hostel entry after 9pm:calmly socialize or retire quietly.

Overhead Bedroom Lights:we dim then kill lights early.

Auxiliary Lights:wall lamps & reading lights are provided.

Breakfast 7am to 10am:waffles, coffee & tea.

Housekeeping 11am to 3pm:Hostel will close, please vacate.

Check-Out before 11am:return sheets, towel & card key.

Extensions:extend reservations & pay before 11am.

Luggage Left:you may leave luggage for pick up only by 3pm.
